What's the best method to remove carpet adhesive to refinish a floor?

I've hauled up carpet before and just sanded %26amp; urethaned the floor. I want to do it now but there is glue all over the floor under the carpet though its nice hardwood. I've been researching it online but I find two answers, mineral spirits and sanding.

What is the best method and are there any special considerations for getting the glue off? What's the best method to remove carpet adhesive to refinish a floor?
There's really not an easy way to do this. A lot depends on how tacky the glue is. If it's still pliable, it will gum up the sanding belts fairly quickly. A very tedious, but effective method, is to use a heat gun and a wide putty knife. This will get the bulk of it off, and then you can sand and finish the floor. If the adhesive is hard, sanding should do the job. Hope this helps. What's the best method to remove carpet adhesive to refinish a floor?
I'd try both. Try a bit of mineral spirits in an out-of-the-way corner, and see if it works, and if it discolors or damages the wood underneath. Try sanding another spot the same way. See which works best.

But if you need to refinish the floor any way, you'll probably have to sand it first. So if sanding removes the glue well, you might as well do that, and save yourself the expense and work of lifting the glue with mineral spirits.
Before going chemical, try a drum sander or floor buffer-without a pad. You can rent either one.
Try using a power steamer and wear a mask.
a heavy sander will do it just sand then buff
