Particle board should not be used in flooring. Any moisture will cause the subfloor to disintegrate.Why can't i lay self adhesive vinyl floor tile over particle board?
Have you ever tried using Duct tape on particle board. Okay so it sticks, but not well. All those little particles easily break away from the board and stick to the tape, making it full of junk and un stickable.


SO you lay self adhesive floor down on this mine field of little bits of wood and very soon after a few walks over the floor the self adhesive is full of tiny particles that have broken loose from the flooring....and you've got to start over.


Don't do it
It might work for a while, but as said in a previous post, it will not be permanent due to the type of floor you are putting it on. There is a type of board you can buy called, or at least pronounced Lou-on '; pardon my spelling'; that will help with the installation. It is about the thickness of paneling, but just looks like thin plywood.


Fasten it securely over your existing floor before you put down your new flooring. this should take care of the problem and allow your vinyl to last a considerable while longer.
You CAN, but you probably shouldn't. The problem is that if moisture (water) gets through the tile to the particleboard floor, it can cause the floor to swell and lift the tiles. If you must do this, consult your home improvement store and find something to use to seal the particleboard first, to help keep moisture out.
you need to prime and seal the porous surface of the particle board, the you can use self stick tiles
particle board has a sealer or some type of glue on it.


The tile will stick to it but it will come off in no time.

There are two solutions the first is to make the surface non porous by sealing the particle board with a suitable sealer The second is to change the glue used, maybe a little more complicated.
It doesn't stick very well or for long.
You can, but the porous surface may make it stick poorly.
Because it will only adhere to a smooth surface. If you apply a primer first then it may work. (but ask a professional to be sure) Besides, particle board can buckle so plywood is a better choice.
