How do I remove adhesive from a cement floor?

I pulled up the carpet and am left with carpet glue on cement floor. How do I remove the glue or what can I put down over the glue besides carpet. The lower level is damp and I want to eliminate carpet. Thanks for any suggestions. How do I remove adhesive from a cement floor?
It appears that a proper damp-proof layer wasn't installed under and above the concrete, beneath the screed. Depending on the situation, it might be possible to add an asphaltic layer and a screed over that. Or perhaps you could glue a layer of heavyweight polythene over the concrete. Or lay wood strips using asphalt (and hence waterproof) adhesive.

We had to remove carpet glue from a (2nd story) wood floor and wasted many hours with a rental sander before deciding to call in the professionals, who did it in less than a day.How do I remove adhesive from a cement floor?
Carpet glue is generally water soluble. Try adding water and let it set for 10 or 15 minutes. Take a scraper (an 8'; tapers knife should work) and try to remove the test spot. It will be messy. Have plenty of rags and a bucket of WARM water to keep the glue off of the knife and you.

If this works, you can do larger areas.

GOOD LUCK!
Scrape it off with long handled scraper or a razor scraper.
heat or a heat gun
use a wirewheel attached to a grinder
you can buy adhesive remover plus wd40 takes it off to.
Pour some water on it to see if it is water-soluble.

If so, the rest of the job is easy but messy.
