you have to let the Goo Gone set in it for it to work.

My go to adhesive remover is Pam cooking spray. If it's an oil based adhesive (most of them are) the oil in the Pam will dissolve it and the adhesive should wipe away with a paper towel.
WD40! Works on chewing gum and car grease too!
